"Farm Fresh Southern Cooking" Review

Jana here with a review of a cookbook that I received recently.  Thomas Nelson, the publisher, has a blog group, Book Sneeze, that allows bloggers to receive a free copy of one of their books (they have a certain number of books a month that are available), in exchange for an honest review.  I was excited to see a cookbook as one of the options this month, especially when I saw the title: "Farm Fresh Southern Cooking - Straight from the Garden to your Dinner Table". (by Tammy Algood) My family and I have grown a garden for several years now, and I was looking forward to new recipes to use the vegetables we harvest!   The book is visually appealing, and would make a great cookbook to have out on display as well!  It is just under 300 pages, and it is filled with a wonderful variety of dishes that make you eager to start cooking!

The pages in the cookbook are very easy to read, and there are beautiful pictures throughout!  I even found a farmers market that is near my area (Fayetteville, Arkansas) on one of the feature pages!  There are other southern events featured throughout the cookbook, making the book really fun to 'read', as opposed to just searching for a recipe!

Before each section, there is a separate table of contents that specifies what will be included.  Although the content titles are what you would expect from this cookbooks (Appetizers, Soups, Salads, Sides, Breads, Entrees, Desserts, Breakfast and Brunch), there is also a small portion with Canning Instructions.  The recipes that you will find within these categories are very unique!  There are many that I have not heard of before, but can't wait to try!
